Campos Meta lives, with a takeover and a new boss

The financial worries that Campos Meta has seem to have now disappeared with the takeover from Jose Ramon Carabante, already a shareholder in the original team he has now taken control and appointed Colin Kolles to lead the team. It’s a sad end to Adrian Campos’ desire to enter F1 with his own team.

The whole team now has a lot to do to get it’s untested car to the track for Bahrain and find another driver to partner Bruno Senna. Being competitive is going to be the last thing on their minds at this point as most of the staff must have been keeping an eye on the job market.

Colin Kolles is a strange choice to lead the team, though he does have F1 experience he hasn’t really ever done anything in the sport other than being a rather unpopular face for Midland. Technically he’s had spells at three F1 teams (Midland, Spyker and Force India) but they are all the same team really and only over the course of about two years if that. I doubt whether it’ll be his F1 experience that will launch Campos Meta (If they remain called that) on to the grid in a blaze of glory anyway.

With Virgin and Lotus on track and this takeover complete it seems that Campos can now concentrate on getting to the grid but how much could they have done if the money for the team had been in place from the start.
