What’s happening at Campos Meta, will they reach Bahrain?
Since the announcement that 4 new teams would be entering F1 there has been rumours circulating around all the new teams but none more so than Campos Meta. They have shown the least to the world and even Bernie has been voicing the rumours.
Over the last few weeks it’s become clear that Adrian Campos hasn’t got the financial support to go racing for a year without new Investment in the team, he says that he doesn’t want to sell a stake but that he wants investment… Now as someone who works for a VC backed company I’m not sure how he’s going to get investment without selling part of the team, that’s how it works isn’t it?
Anyway Adrian Campos has said that he will have the required funding in place on Monday and that the team will line up on the grid in Bahrain – even if that is without turning a wheel before then. I’m not sure where the line is drawn here as to my understanding the new teams are allowed three no shows so they wouldn’t even have to compete in the first three races and they would still be ok. In that case why are Stefan GP shipping out to Bahrain already? I guess there must be some other financial clauses that could prevent Campos from being a part of the grid for next year otherwise none of that makes sense.
With rumours around that Bruno Senna would sign for Stefan GP were Campos not to make it, it seems we wouldn’t be losing very much anyway.
