The title goes to the wire as Vettel takes the honours in Brazil

With Vettel winning in Brazil the title goes to the next race in Abu Dhabi, the same result would see Alonso lift the crown but surely even Red Bull would switch the drivers so that they take the title, it’s not like Alonso could whinge about that.

It was a good race fro Red Bull, apart from Hulkenberg sitting on pole they had pretty much the perfect weekend, and to top that they came away with the constructors crown. Red Bull deserve the constructors title this year, they clearly have the best car and arguably have had for the last season and a half. Adrian Newey really was worth all of that money.

Webber should be pleased with the weekend, although Vettel can still win the title,  Alonso only has to finish 5th to ensure that Vettel can’t take the crown. With the Ferrari looking everybit as if it is the fastest car after the Red Bulls it would seem that third would be a good bet, though McLaren could upset that. Webber needs to regain his momentum and take the win in Abu Dhabi to be sure – though he still needs Alonso to come third. There are many different possibilties – if all three crash out and Hamilton wins he could still be crowned champion though it is unlikely. Interestingly and if my maths are correct if Alonso goes out and Sebastien Vettel wins with Webber second they will finished with the same points score but Vettel will take the title by virtue of an extra race win.

Brazil continued it’s dreadful string of results for Rubens Barrichello who managed to endure both a botched pit stop and then a puncture on his way to 14th whereas the Pole sitter Hulkenberg could only hang on to eigth, as Williams flattered to deceive in qualifying. Renault never really started the weekend and Force India seem on a path of self destruction. Mercedes put in a good showing as they took sixth and seventh though Michael Schumacher will be disappointed to finish behind Rosberg again – it seems that the young german has had the luck this year, will that change next year?

With the title race as close as ever, conceivably the race could end with three drivers on the same points and with Vettel and Alonso on the same number of wins, the F1 circus moves on the Abu Dhabi to decide, it will be compulsive viewing.
