Lots of action in Malaysia except for Vettel who marches on

The Malaysian GP was full of overtaking, pit stops, accidents, etc… but is was serene for Vettel at the front as he waltzed off to his second victory and a 24pt lead in the championship. Jenson Button who described his own race as “confusing” finished up in second as he put his McLaren where it needed to be and kept hold of his tyres for long enough to make it stick. Heidfeld confirmed the pace of the Renault as he took the last podium place with Webber taking a hard earned fourth spot.
The DRS was used for the first time really in Malaysia and seemed to work quite well at certain points, i.e. getting people along side the other guy (Mark Webber used it a few times), but sometimes it seemed to spoil the show as the car using it just drove clean by – though you have to [...]

Full year report: Ferrari

Ferrari’s season comes in three parts, the first was the race in Bahrain. People started mentioning red wash again and it looked like the season was going to be interesting from third place down, but then they imploded and couldn’t string together a good result for much of the middle of the season. They did however keep picking up the points. Then comes Germany and they haven’t looked back since, Alonso said they needed to finish on the podium for all the remaining races and he has – sending him up the order.
Fernando Alonso has had an impressive season, Ferrari always seems a hard team to integrate with and get up to speed but Alonso managed it. He has continually put his car into the points even when it has been slower than some of the those around him, something he carried forward from his recent seasons at Renault. Ultimately [...]

Full year report: Force India

Force India are another team that has gone backwards in 2010, it shows how hard it is to maintain any competitive edge in F1. They haven’t helped themselves in terms of drivers, Sutil and Liuzzi haven’t hit it off and don’t seem to be pushing each other in the right ways. It seems that they just need a little more pace but if the drivers weren’t having to concentrate on each other they might find it.
Adrian Sutil hasn’t been at his best this season, gone is the confident young driver who would consistently put in good performances and was hampered by failures of the car, in is the reckless driver who’s scruffy performances are starting to call into question how much the car failures were down to the team.
Vitantonio Liuzzi’s season could have gone better, after a few years out he returned and hasn’t made much of an impression on [...]

Full year report: Sauber

Sauber have had a good year given where they started from, the car wasn’t as fast as it could have been but Kobayashi makes sure that they always have a chance of points, had they not had the unreliability that they had at the start of the year they might have done more with it but still a solid year.
Kamui Kobayashi has displayed the excitement that we’ve come to expect from Japanese drivers and has scored points in races he had no business doing so. He could have benefited from some more help from the team in some races but he’s also shown he doesn’t need it. If he can curb the overly ambitious side of his driving he could be a force to be reckoned with.
Pedro de la Rosa didn’t last the whole year, I don’t think it did that badly overall he had some terrible bad luck early [...]
