Jenson Button

Jenson Button burst on to the F1 scene in 2000 with Williams and straight away proved that he was fast. It never quite came off for him though and that continued into his years at Benetton and Renault, and even at BAR really. He bought himself out of a Williams contract to stay at BAR who were becoming Honda and who subsequently became Brawn in 2009.

His best season before 2009 was back in 2004 under Dave Richards at BAR where Jenson Button scored more points than any other driver in the final rounds. But he had to wait until 2006 for his first win which came at Hungry. 2009 changed all of that when Brawn finally supplied him with race winning machinery consistently, and Button complied by winning six out of the first seven races as he went on to become world champion.

Jenson Button has now moved on to McLaren after Mercedes bought the Brawn team, here he finds himself partnered with Lewis Hamilton. Many people questioned this move but it makes sense with Michael Schumacher set to join Mercedes and McLaren having such a fast car at the end of last year. The Button/Hamilton battle will form the strongest driver partnership on the grid.
