Kamui Kobayashi

Kamui Kobayashi jumped in to everyone view last year when he replaced Timo Glock for the last two races of the season at Toyota. He comes from GP2 Asia Series and GP2 the first of which he won and second of which he made no impression on. That said his opening race in F1 raised a few eye brows as he overtook Jenson Button during the race and was later described by the World Champion as:

Kamui Kobayashi looks like an exciting racing driver and it’s good to see one of them about. When it seemed that his F1 foray was at an end as Toyota pulled out he managed to secure a drive at Sauber in Peter Sauber revamped team. He is joined there by Pedro de la Rosa and has the perfect guy to learn from. If he can couple his exciting style with the patience of de la Rosa he’ll be a force to contend with; de la Rosa will have to work hard to beat him this year.

Another interesting point is the fact that the Sauber looks really good from pre-season testing so he might actually have a car that can challenge some of the bigger names, it might not be all the time but if he drives consistently expect him to pick up more than a few points this year and worry the big names whenever they run into trouble.
