Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton had a disappointing 2009, he started the year as the reigning world champion and it soon became clear that he didn’t have a hope of defending that title. McLaren kept developing the car though and he won in Hungry and Singapore to finish fifth in the standings.

Hamilton did his reputation no favours early in the season with the lying scandal where he mis-informed the stewards and was subsequently disqualified. Over the course of the year he managed to reign in his frustration and concentrate on moving forward but I’m sure some people in the team will remember that. He’s been working to mend this image and will continue to work on it, he seems to have been trying to model himself after Michael Schumacher with the unbreakable determination that the German has and this year he’ll be able to learn from the master himself.

This year he finds himself alongside Jenson Button, the current world champion. His new team mate will be wanting to ensure that he gets down to business as quickly as possible and Hamilton will be hoping it takes him a while. Most people expect Hamilton to beat Button this year and he needs to deliver on that to maintain his reputation as a driver, Button won’t make it easy for him but his status at the McLaren team should help him out there.
