Pedro de la Rosa
Pedro de la Rosa returns to a race drive with Sauber after many years as McLarens test driver. Before the start of the season de la Rosa hadn’t driven in a race since 2006 when he replaced Juan Pablo Montoya mid season. Before that he has driven for Arrows and Jaguar however he’s never really achieved much in terms of results with a second place being his best result and that was in the 2006 Hungarian GP that Jenson Button eventually won.
He returns to the grid in a Sauber car that has been quick in testing and alongside a young Japanese driver who wants to prove himself in F1, Kamui Kobayashi. Kobayashi showed himself to be no slouch in last years Toyota and de la Rosa is going to need every bit of his experience to beat the young driver this season.
Pedro de la Rosa will be hoping to score some decent points this year in what must be his last shot at racing in F1, and that the Sauber can deliver those results. It’s good to see that not all of the teams opted for young blood across the board and that experience is a quality that can be put to use on the grid.
