Sebastien Vettel

Sebastien Vettel leapt on to the F1 scene through the Toro Rosso team and impressed so much that he graduated to the Red Bull team with David Coultard’s departure. His promise has rewarded him with victories and being very close to becoming World Champion, had Red Bull started 2010 with a double diffuser then he probably would have been.

This year promises to be much harder for Red Bull with all the big teams coming back to form and Mark Webber being fully fit from the start he’ll face more pressure from inside the team and out. With the return of Michael Schumacher he’ll no longer be the German golden boy and he’ll have less support, but he’s experienced enough not to need that.

Vettel can be prone to being hotheaded and this has lost him points in the past (remember that crash with Kubica), he seems to have left that behind him now with some much more mature drives at the end of 2009 but with the extra competition out there in 2010 he’ll have to keep that in check to remain competitive long term.

2010 can be a good year for him if he soundly beats Mark Webber and can pick up a whole lot more points but I doubt he’s going to be a real title contender, if only because the Red Bull doesn’t look as fast as it was last year.
