The Mexican grand prix in 1991 was the last time that a Porsche powered F1 car raced. In the hands of Michele Alboreto and Alex Caffi, the Footwork Porsche cars failed to qualify for most races and when they did make the start the cars wouldn’t last long before suffering reliability gremlins. It was an unfitting end to the German manufacturer tenure in the sport, with them having won three world championships in the 1980s with Mclaren. However, Porsche may be about to put all of this right.

Formula One is still massively popular, with Formula One Management suggesting that a global audience of about 600 million people see at least some F1 action every single year. The 2010 grid has five new drivers on it, that&#8217;s a lot for one season but there could have easily been more had US F1 made the grid. Nico Hulkenberg joins the Williams team, Vitaly Petrov joins Renault, Lucas di Grassi joins Virgin Racing and both Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok join HRT Cosworth. Most of these come directly from GP2 with Nico Hulkenberg the reigning champion.
Nico Hulkenberg has risen to stardom very quickly showing a talent that Willi Webber says reminds him of a young Michael Schumacher (who was it who said the same about Vettel?) and took the GP2 title impressively in his first season, will he have a similarly explosive start to his F1 career? HRT (Hispania Racing Team), the team to emerge from the Campos Meta outfit has finally released the Dallara car that has been promised for months. They also released the identity of Bruno Senna&#8217;s team mate &#8211; Karun Chandhok. If you haven&#8217;t heard of him it&#8217;s because he&#8217;s an unknown GP2 driver who&#8217;s won two races in the last three years and managed to haul himself to a massive 18th in the GP2 championship last year.
With this launch comes the promise that they might actually make the grid for Bahrain and at least confirms all of the entrys for the cars. I wonder how effective they will be, the car has never run, Karun Chandhok clearly isn&#8217;t a driver that can compete at the highest level in GP2 let alone F1 &#8211; he must have some backing &#8211; and Bruno Senna last drove an F1 car in 2008.

Renault have now launched their car and announced the driver to partner Robert Kubica. Vitaly Petrov will pilot the second Renault for 2010, he makes history as the first Russian to enter F1, no mention of the money he could bring though.
The new Renault doesn&#8217;t look as sharp as the McLaren or the Ferrari but the 2005/6 cars didn&#8217;t either and look what they did. I love the new colour scheme though it does remind me somewhat of Eddie Jordan&#8217;s team. It will look good on track, and if their design team has managed to stay insulated from all the happenings at the team over the past 12 months they might produce something &#8211; I guess we&#8217;ll have to wait until Bahrain to see if they have managed it.
Vitaly Petrov seems an odd choice as the second driver but I guess they couldn&#8217;t have done worse than Romain Grosjean. He [...]]]></description>

Campos Meta are perhaps the most secretive of the new teams to enter F1, headed up by Adrian Campos a former F1 driver. They are the extension of the GP2 team Addax, along with a Spainish media firm Meta Image and are based in spain.
There isn&#8217;t much info on their car other than the fact that Dallara are building it, and that it&#8217;ll be using Cosworth engines. So with an outsourced car the mechanics will simply be fitters, I guess testing will be fun. Dallara do build a lot of race cars though so it might be good, it has a good chance of being better than the Virgin or US F1 cars.
Driver wise they have perhaps the most exciting name to grace the F1 grid in terms of Bruno Senna, he has a lot to live up to but perhaps Campos with be the stepping stone to achievement that [...]]]></description>

Peter Windsor quit F1 racing last year to setup a new F1 team and I wasn&#8217;t really that convinced at the time but US F1 is the result and they look to have some pretty impressive facilities. With a base in the US and one in Spain at a circuit they seem to have the investment to succeed.
Announced almost a year ago they have had time to get up and running and design a car, Peter Windsor has teamed up with Ken Anderson who has a pretty impressive motorsport pedigree and Chad Hurley of YouTube fame. It seems they have all the bases covered in terms of the company but can they deliver on track?
