Can Jenson Button retain the title this year?

Arguably Jenson Button has the least chance of retaining his world title since Jacques Villeneuve pulled on his Williams helmet in 1998. With Ferrari signing Alonso and Mercedes bringing back Michael Schumacher plus the fact that Lewis Hamilton is now Jenson Button’s team mate there will be much more competition this year for the top set of points, and I haven’t even mentioned the Red Bull team.
Jenson Button will first and foremost have to beat his team mate to win the title and that is going to be a tough ask, he’ll have to do better than Fernando Alonso did in 2007, Hamilton has improved since then too. Button moves to McLaren as the World Champion as Alonso did in in 2007 but he’s also British and Hamilton did alienate a portion of the McLaren team last year after his antics in Australia so Button’s in a stronger position. Red Bull launch their 2010 crusader

Last years Red Bull very nearly won the world championship, if they had started the year with a double diffuser and Sebastien Vettel hadn’t been quite so hot headed then they would have won the championship, it’s that simple.
Therefore this years can is going to have to go one better to satisfy everyone and that can only be at the expense of teams such as Ferrari and McLaren which doesn’t happen that often, I think last year may have been their best hope.
That said they have Adrian Newey who has designed some amazing cars and this looks like one of them. The Red Bull livery makes it hard to discern the detail but there’s no reason to believe that they won’t have built a fast car – unless they spent all their efforts on last years car and this one has been built in the last four months. It’s possible [...]

Round up of 2009

So last year was eventful in F1, from scandal off track to fairytale on track. Brawn GP went from nearly closing to winning the World Championship in their first year, with some amazing victories along the way to prove that anything is indeed possible in F1.
What happened
Jenson Button took the world title, Brawn clinched the constructors title (I wonder if Honda still think they made the best call…), Ferrari lost all their form and we found out that they’re really hard to drive, McLaren made some big mistakes and Lewis Hamilton learnt some humility, we found out that Michael Schumacher might not be gone for good, that Japanese drivers do make for exciting racing and that Fernando Alonso can climb above any scandal.
Jenson Button started the season with a clean sweep which ultimately was the reason that he clinched the title, Rubens Barrichello followed Jenson home to start the season [...]
