Lotus

Will the return of an iconic name mark a resurgence in F1 and take this new team to the top? It’s unlikely to happen this year but those are the wildly ambitious plans at Lotus, based in Norfolk in the UK they have worked flat out to not only make an F1 car but to build a team from scratch.

The Car

The car will be built and designed by Lotus and overseen by Mike Gascoyne who has a good reputation for success even if he does seem to move teams quite often. With a whole bunch of ex-toyota staff they should pick up some good experience to develop it this year so though I’m not expecting them to come out of the blocks very strong – they just haven’t had enough time – I think they will improve fast.

The Drivers

With Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen set to drive for them next year they have the most experienced driver lineup out of the new teams, another reason why I think that they will improve fast. Both will bring the car home and Jarno will show them exactly how fast the Lotus actually is.

Extra Detail

Although not anything to do with the Lotus of old they do have the drive and spirit to make this team succeed to some level, let’s hope they don’t let the name down.
